"I fought through three major eye surgeries between
November 2010 and February 2011, a pneumatic retinopexy, a scleral
buckle and a vitrectomy, to try to regain vision but to no avail. As my
treatment began to stabilize in March 2011, I promised myself to not let
this break my spirit or shake my boundless spirit for life and never to
feel hopeless and helpless going forward.
