"I fought through three major eye surgeries between November 2010 and February 2011, a pneumatic retinopexy, a scleral buckle and a vitrectomy, to try to regain vision but to no avail. As my treatment began to stabilize in March 2011, I promised myself to not let this break my spirit or shake my boundless spirit for life and never to feel hopeless and helpless going forward.

Determined to overcome my personal battle I vowed to live each day one day at a time and forever challenge myself — never settling... DANCE has always been my primary voice, my most explicit form of expression...In June 2011, I completed a 12K cycling marathon for the American Diabetes Association 'Tour de Cure' in honor of my father and family members who suffer from severe retinal detachment." In July 2011, Stephanie became the first Jamaican-born to win the Miss Caribbean Metro USA Beauty Pageant. Read more about this dynamic young lady.
